Ivgeni, our milkman

Ivgeni, our milkman

Posted on 27 August 2014
Ivgeni, our milkman
Our milkman Ivgeni, with his wife Penka

Ivgeni has three cows, which he walks around the village every day, grazing them. He has one wayward cow that apparently doesn’t listen to anything he says and just wanders about. It has a bell, so you can always hear where it is. He stops outside our house for a rest every evening, so we pop outside for a chat and order our milk for the next day. We give him a plastic bottle and he fills it up for us in the morning with fresh milk, still warm from the cow. He does theĀ deliveries in his cart. His wife came with him today to say hello.

It’s like going back to the fifties!!! I AM worried about that poor horse though – it is way too thin. I take it Joe’s Bulgarian is improving then?

We’ve asked our horsey friends about that, and they say that a lot of Bulgarian breeds go really thin at this time of year, to help them cope with the heat, and yes, my Bulgarian is getting better!
