New pigs enjoying their new house
A big welcome to our new arrivals, Richard and Danny the pigs, named after our two volunteers. We bought them in the village after our neighbour put us in touch with a couple who were selling them. They didn’t much like being moved from their home, but they have settled in well to their new home; they’ve been eating greenery, digging for roots and generally exploring. More updates to follow!

Went to a talk about organic pigs at Alston recently, Elderhog … has a website, most attractive and they’ve got lovely straw bale houses … any big bad wolves over there????… Beautiful, sunny windy day but the snow is still on the tops …. best wishes from Penrith

They are too cute. How are they getting on with the Hens? We will be following the life of these two very closely. Keen to know if they will be Jarred or not!! 🙂
Hi Anna and Olof, the pigs are really scared of the hens, and are in a separate pen. Pigs have been known to eat hens! As for jarring the meat, the jury’s still out on that. If we can get Lisa to let us taste a sample, and then show us how it’s done, then maybe! Hope you’re both well, the balloon trip looked fantastic!
We do have wolves in Bulgaria but not in the village, they also have a house of brick so they’ll be ok 🙂 There is snow on the mountain tops but it’s shorts and tee-shirt weather here in the low lands.Any time you want to come over Maria just let us know it would be great to see you. The pigs and hens are in separate pens and generally ignore each other, not sure about the jarring yet, we’ve got a few months to think about it.
