Today we had planned a rest-day, a chance to chill out and relax a bit after our hectic and tiring drive of the last week. We planned to meet up with Chris and Val, who live near Elhovo and had kindly asked us to stay for the night with them at their house.
We met them in Elhovo, and after a lovely meal in the town square, we went to their house for a spot of comfort and beer. It turned out that there was a festival in the village that night, so after a meal, we went and joined the festivities! There was a lot of dancing and drinking, which seems about par for the course for Bulgarian festivals.
There was also an impressive display of fire-walking, with the woman taking children across the hot coals with her.
Afterwards, we all went back to Chris and Val’s and sat up late into the night talking politics and putting the world to rights. It was a lovely relaxing evening 🙂 Наздраве!
