Chicken bums for dinner

Posted on 09 September 2014

Or, the perils of buying things in supermarkets when you don’t speak the language.

Looking for frozen chicken in the freezer and I found something called “трътки пилешки”. Пилешки means chicken, and it looked like pieces, so I bought them. Turned out to be a whole packet of parson’s noses. Yummm, chicken arseholes boiled with potatoes and carrots for dinner. That’s a meal I won’t forget!

Wait until you find the ‘jellied chicken’ gets a chicken taste/texture if cooked long and low otherwise …

Oh hell Joe! I was nearly crying with laughter! !!! Actually when I roast a chicken, I quite like the parson’s nose ( why is it called that) ? However now I’m not so sure….. so funny, but in a way, makes you wonder what other delights you may discover 🙂

The parson’s nose is a delicacy, very sweet & succulent. It has nothing to do with the rectum, but contains the preen oil of the bird. I am lucky because I don’t have any competition in getting it, apart from when my mother comes to dinner!

I remember you and Chris used to enjoy it, always found it too fatty myself.
