We had originally been going to tile the floor in the bathroom, but after seeing a stone floor in a friend’s house, we thought we could do that.
First, we had to make the floor level, which took a load of concrete and a lot of graft.
Then we had to select and fix the stones. We found loads of limestone in the chicken run, so Julie decided we should use that. We hadn’t counted on there being a lot of huge rocks in amongst the ones we wanted, so this took a long time for Julie to find ones of the right thickness. We’ll use those big rocks in another project.
You have every right to be proud, it looks lovely! Did you get my email about the sheepskin coat of Mum’s for Julie?
Thanks Mum, yes, I did, I’ll email you tonight, thanks!
you are just storming ahead with the jobs … fabulous floor …. interesting to see work in progress ….. especially the pattern of stones tried out first in the yard …….
nice and warm in Cumbria today but nobody is sporting a tan like you two….. unless they’ve been abroad or upstairs at the hairdressers ….. Tanfastic! xfrom Carol in Penrith
Love it!
Wow. That is so impressive, and looks fantastic. Well done, you must be shattered.
Hard graft but it gives its own satisfaction. Well done!
Well done! The floor looks really good.
Wow! that is a great reward for all the hard graft and planning. Next you will have to use up some of those textiles left in the house to make nice thick rag rugs – believe me, that floor will be baltic in the Winter; had one like that in Wales.
PS Any little ‘Foggy’ paw prints in the concrete ? :~)
I think he managed to sneak in and leave one (a paw print, that is!) when Julie’s back was turned.
